Chapter 5: Photography

The capture of light...

The practice of photography, like many of the arts in my life, was initally modeled to me by my mother, who spent a significant portion of my childhood behind a camera. She would always be snapping away at whatever little piece of brilliance caught her eye, filling her Flickr, Google+, and our family photo box with what she saw to be beautiful. To me, photography is all about seeing beauty in the world, a beauty worth holding onto.

As my mother says, the best camera for one to use is the camera they have, and for the longest time the camera I had was a hot pink Canon PowerShot A2300. I worked with this camera, given to me by my grandmother, for nine years. It served me very well all the way up to and past its violent death at the hands of the waves of Zuma beach.
